Celtic site Archeoskanzen Havránok Liptovská Mara

Havránok is one of the most important archeological sites in Slovakia. The presence of the Celtic population is documented in Liptov from the 4th to the 1st century BC. l . Archaeologists have discovered and uncovered the remains of a settlement from the Late Iron Age , also known as the La Tène period .

The Celts were the first inhabitants of Slovakia, whom we can also name. The Liptov Celts were included in the Kotín tribe . The scope of the findings points to the fact that their seat of supraregional significance was located in Havránek. In addition to a number of ceramics, jewelry, iron and bronze objects, the remains of walls, a cult site of ancient druids and Celtic dwellings were found here.

The so-called experimental archeology was applied to Havránek. There was no traditional discovery and preservation of the buildings, there was also their creative reconstruction and construction of replicas. Thanks to this, Havránek became the first Slovak open-air archeological park , in which we can admire reconstructed residential buildings, a ceramic kiln, an enclosure and ramparts with a gate.

During the summer season, it is the venue for various cultural events such as fencing or demonstrations of Celtic religious ceremonies and various crafts.
