Baranec from Žiarska dolina

Baranec (2184 m above sea level) is a hill overlooking Liptovský Mikuláš. Together with Kriváň, it is a dominant part of the city's panorama and it is indisputably one of the most visited peaks in the Western Tatras and the whole of Liptov. One of the reasons is the fact that the route to Baranec can be a circuit, supplemented by a stop at Žiarská chata.

You will start the hike in the paid parking lot at the mouth of the Žiarská dolina, from where you continue along the yellow sign with a steeper ascent to the forest border and the Holý vrch crossroads, from which there are wonderful views of the whole of Liptov. After reaching the top of the majestic Baranca (2184 m above sea level), you proceed by a gentle descent through Smrek to Žiarské sedlo (1917 m above sea level) and further by a more significant descent along the green and blue mark Žiarská dolina to Žiarská chata, where you can refresh or sleep all year round. The cottage then offers you several descent options. You can continue down the asphalt road, use the original hiking trail along the blue sign through the forest with a nature trail, or rent mountain scooters and the parking lot - the end point of the route to seduce.
